Today is a day of Mourning for us because we could not save our young 14 year’s female student from attack of TTP although we all especially ANP government in KPK was well aware that she is potential target for Taliban.
Malala Yousufzai has emerged as a symbol of resistance against the Taliban. She first gained popularity by showing courage of opposing the rule of Taliban in Swat. She also wrote ‘anti-Taliban’ diary for the BBC. Due to her courageous and outstanding services for the promotion of peace under extremely hostile conditions in Swat, she was awarded the first National Peace Award by the prime minister and has received cash award also. On the basis of her active participation in bringing peace and advocating the education of females in Swat, the international children’s advocacy group Kids Rights Foundation has included Malala among the nominees for the International Children’s Peace Prize, as the first Pakistani girl nominated for the award. MALALA Yousafzai could not win the International Children’s Peace Prize, on Universal Children’s Day but she was among the top five favorites selected from almost 100 children hailing from 42 countries.
Today, Malala was returning back from school along with other female classmates in a car. One person pointed gun at driver and other asked about the identity of Malala and after identification, a defenseless young girl was fired upon from close range. The bullet has pierced through Malala’s head and reached very close to her spinal cord which resulted in swollen head, therefore yesterday doctors were indecisive on her operation. The medical board had conducted the detailed check-up of Malala and has advised that she be taken abroad for treatment. On their recommendation Interior Minister Rehman Malik had directed Secretary Interior to make necessary arrangements for shifting Malala Yousafzai abroad. Panel of experts have recommended her operation today and she is operated upon. Her operation has been successful and bullet has been removed from her brain, she has not gained consciousness but she is out of danger. Thanks Allah who has saved her.
It is shameful from TTP that they have accepted the attack and their representatives have claimed that, “We carried out this attack; anybody who speaks against us will be attacked in the same way. She was pro-West, she was speaking against us and she was calling President Obama her idol,”
A cold shivering has run down in my spine after hearing the cowardly attack on Malala. I am unable to understand how could somebody be so brutal in his approach and attack on innocent, unarmed and defenseless girl of only 14 years of age, only because she thinks differently and oppose your way of life and want to see your daughters and sons be educated and civilized. I cannot resist myself in raising doubts on KPK Government, which was well aware of the fact that she was under constant threat and a potential target of TTP. Only for eye wash she was provided a car to drop her from home to school with an unarmed guard. The KPK government which is being ruled by ANP must be questioned on their criminal negligence which has terrorized the whole nation and youth of this country. Attack on Malala has also brought us at weak condition in explaining how she was left unattended for attack. Malala Yousfzai is a symbol for not only for Pakistan, but for young generations all over the world where state is fighting against terrorists. She is symbol of resistance and a ray of hope. She is an ambassador of Pakistan all over the world. How would we be able to save our faces from shame that we knew but we did not do anything concrete to save her. She is a window for outer world to see our conduct as Pakistani citizen for fight against terror and our resolve to fight with terrorist to drive them out from our pure land.
The state of Pakistan must do everything to save her life. We must pray to Allah to recover from this attack without any permanent irreparable damage. Besides all positive antidotes I have serious concern regarding her safety after recovery from wound. TTP has threatened to attack on her even if she survives; this makes me much disturbed on her safety in Pakistan. Where ever Malala lives either in Pakistan or outside Pakistan she must be alive as symbol of struggle, resistance, courage and an agent of Reform in Pakistan.
